Feng shui bedroom layout on an Eight Mansions compass, eight directions color-coded from gold to dark red
Gold is your best direction, dark red your least suitable. Example: male, born 1962.

How it works

  1. Enter your birth date

Birth year is enough. Add month and day so we can apply the Lichun (Start of Spring) year boundary.

  2. Get your Gua

A fixed formula gives your Gua and East or West group, with the arithmetic shown so you can check it.

  3. See your directions

Your four best directions, plus an 8-point bedroom checklist with the evidence behind each point.

  1. NEBest directionNortheast
  2. NW2nd-best directionNorthwest
  3. W3rd-best directionWest
  4. SW4th-best directionSouthwest

Example · Male, born 1962

Kun Gua, West group

Headboard: point it northeast. That is his best direction, then northwest, west and southwest. (100 − 62) = 38, 38 ÷ 9 leaves remainder 2 → Kun.

Questions

Is this science?

No. These rules come from Ba Zhai (Eight Mansions), a traditional Chinese system. They have not been verified by modern science. Some checklist tips, like blocking light and noise, are backed by sleep research, and the report labels each tip so you can tell which is which.

Why do you ask for my birth month and day?

The system's year starts at Lichun, around February 4, not January 1. If you were born in January or early February, your Gua may follow the previous year. Without the date we calculate by year and say so.

Do I have to share my sex?

No. The traditional formula differs for men and women, so if you skip it the report shows both versions side by side.

Do you keep my data?

No. The report is calculated in your browser and nothing is sent to us. A nickname is optional and only used to greet you.

Will it tell me something bad is going to happen?

No. The system's category names are traditional labels, and the report says plainly that they are not predictions. When tradition and comfort disagree, the report sides with comfort.
